Communication across Cultures

             6.6.6 Attire
Attire refers to the clothing or garments that individuals wear. It encompasses the
various items and accessories that people use to dress themselves, including shirts,
pants, dresses, skirts, suits, shoes, hats, and jewelry, among others.
Attire serves both practical and symbolic purposes. Practically, it provides protec-
tion and comfort, adapting to different environmental conditions and societal expecta-
tions. Symbolically, attire can communicate cultural, social, professional, or personal
             identity.
The choice of attire can vary depending on factors such as occasion, cultural norms,
individual style, fashion trends, and personal preferences. Different dress codes exist
for various situations, ranging from formal attire for business or special events to casual
or informal attire for everyday activities.
Attire can be influenced by cultural traditions, religious beliefs, and regional cus-
toms. It can also be shaped by social and fashion trends, reflecting the current styles
and preferences within a given time period.
Overall, attire plays an important role in self-expression, presenting oneself to oth-
ers, and adhering to social expectations or norms related to appearance and dress.
