Appendix 2 Interview Record
(Participant A)
Time: 12:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 22 April 2017
Venue: Chang’An Taste, G/F., 406D Des Voeux Road West, Western District, Hong Kong
Interviewee: Participant A, a paralegal in a big firm in Hong Kong, the creator of a WeChat
public account with nearly 30,000 fans
Interviewer: Huang Weijie
Huang: Hi! Your public account has worked very well, congratulations! I guess you must
have many fans.
Participant A: Not bad, nearly 30,000.
Huang: Wow, that’s great! You are recruiting volunteers for the fifth time, right? How many
volunteers will be involved each time?
Participant A: Well, it is the sixth recruitment. Every time we are recruiting approximately 30
volunteers. The number of applicants varies from time to time. Sometimes we received
70 to 80 applications so that we can screen out half of them. For this time, we have less
applicants. But of course we can still complete the recruitment, only with less choice.
Huang: Is there any repeat application?
Zhneg: Yeah. But we require any applicant cannot apply more than twice. Our volunteers
are divided into two branches, one is for collecting information and the other is doing
interview. So if you apply for a second time, you will be divided into a branch different
from that of the first time. We haven’t any plan to expand our team.
Huang: Is it a for-profit account or non-profit?
Participant A: Non-profit public account.
Huang: So what’s your incentive?
Participant A: I regard it as an attempt to start my own business. To tell you a truth, I would
like to start my own business in the recent future. I plan to publish a book next year. All
the articles published in my account is originally created.
Huang: Originally created by your team.
Participant A: Ah, exactly. The first few articles were written by myself, and the rest were
written by the volunteers.
Huang: So you think the interview records were written by your volunteers?
Participant A: Of course, they contacted the interviewees and then recorded the interview.
