PREFACE

In today’s complex and highly industrialized era, process change and alarm
management have become critical issues in many industries, particularly in the
petrochemical, chemical, and energy sectors, where their importance is evident.
Process change, a core strategy for companies to adapt to market competition,
technological innovation, and sustainable development, is integral to every aspect
of production and operations. From the development and launch of new products
to the optimization and improvement of production processes, and the replacement
of raw materials, process changes are ubiquitous. They directly impact production
efficiency and cost reduction, as well as the stability and consistency of product
quality. More importantly, in an era where safety and environmental protection
are increasingly regulated, reasonable and scientific process changes are crucial
for preventing accidents and reducing environmental risks. However, process
change is not merely a technical shift; it involves the interplay and coordination
of complex technical, management, personnel, and regulatory factors. Without
systematic, rigorous, and comprehensive management practices, process changes
can lead to serious issues such as production interruptions, safety incidents, quality
issues, and cost overruns, causing significant losses to companies and potentially
                 harming the industry’s development.
Meanwhile, alarm management, acting as the “safety guardian” of industrial
production, plays a vital role in real-time monitoring of production status,
promptly identifying potential abnormalities, and issuing timely alerts. A precise,
efficient, and reliable alarm system can provide critical early warning information
to operators as soon as production parameters deviate from the normal range. This
enables them to take effective measures promptly, nipping potential accidents in
the bud, preventing their escalation, and maximizing the protection of personnel
