Chapter Three Impacts of Global Climate Change

                     【1】Drainage System Upgrades
Strengthen the construction and maintenance of urban drainage systems to ensure their
capability in coping with heavy rainfall and flood disasters. For example, Amsterdam, Neth-
erlands has achieved effective rainwater collection and utilization through the construction
of underground storage reservoirs and rain gardens, reducing the risk of waterlogging.
2.Water Supply and Sewage Treatment Facilities Improvement
Introduce advanced water treatment technologies and intelligent management systems
to enhance water resource utilization efficiency and ensure the safety of domestic water sup-
ply. Israel’s drip irrigation technology and precision agricultural practices provide valuable
experience for efficient water use in arid and semi-arid regions.
                     3.Power Supply Stability
Develop distributed energy systems and smart grids to enhance the stability and flexi-
bility of power supply. Germany’s renewable energyThe Energiewende policy has promoted
the development of clean energy sources such as solar and wind power, reducing reliance on
                 traditional fossil fuels.
                     4.Transportation Network Optimization
Develop a multimodal transportation system prioritizing public transit to reduce private
vehicle usage, alleviate traffic congestion, and decrease air pollution. Singapore’s metro sys-
tem and electric bus initiative provide exemplary models for other cities.
In conclusion, adaptation challenges in urbanization reveal modern cities’ heightened
sensitivity to external environmental changes. Understanding these issues and their under-
lying mechanisms holds significant importance for formulating scientific and rational urban
planning policies. By comprehensively implementing measures including urban planning,
green building initiatives, and infrastructure resilience enhancement, we can progressively
mitigate climate change impacts on urbanization and build more livable, sustainable future
cities. However, facing current severe circumstances, the international community must
urgently strengthen cooperation to jointly explore effective climate adaptation pathways, en-
suring global cities’ climate resilience and sustainable development.

Section 3 Global Climate Change Impacts on Human
                                                    Health

Global climate change poses multiple threats to human health, including the expansion
of infectious disease transmission ranges, increased incidence of heat-related illnesses, and
                 health risks from particulate pollution.

                     I. Expansion of Infectious Disease Transmission

                     (1) Changes in the Geographic Range of Disease Vectors
Rising temperatures and habitat expansion have enabled many disease vectors previous-
