PREFACE
Water is the source of life and the foundation of civilization. From the
ancient Mesopotamian civilization that gave birth to the brilliant Babylonian
civilization, to modern cities relying on stable water supply to maintain
prosperity, water resources have always been the core lifeline of human social
development. However, as industrialization and urbanization accelerate, global
water resources are facing unprecedented challenges. According to United
Nations data, approximately 2 billion people worldwide lack access to safe and
clean drinking water, with millions of deaths annually caused by water pollution;
At the same time, the frequent occurrence of extreme precipitation and drought
caused by climate change has further exacerbated the imbalance of spatial and
temporal distribution of water resources. This not only threatens the balance of the
ecosystem, but also becomes an important factor restricting sustainable economic
development and affecting social stability.
Faced with such an urgent situation, water resource protection has evolved
from a simple environmental issue to a global strategic issue concerning human
survival. Whether it is the well-developed sewage treatment systems in developed
countries or the water-saving irrigation technologies actively explored by
developing countries, countries around the world are striving to find effective ways
to protect water resources. However, the complexity of water resources issues
determines that exploration in this field requires interdisciplinary integration, multi
technology collaboration, and multi subject participation. In this context, Water
