迷途篇 Going Astray
Vanity
Both ends of the balance
Men of low degree and ones of high degree are weighted.
The lowly is on one end,
and the noble is on the other end.
The lowly is identical to the noble
as light as breath.
Self-reliant lowliness
and pompous dignity
are twin brothers,
wandering and hovering around upon both poles.
The poor and the rich are competed.
The poor is on one end,
and the rich is on the other end.
The poor and the rich keep the balance
as easy as feather.
Poverty counting on wealth
and affluence relying on wealth
are friends in adversity,
rushing about unceasingly upon both ends.
Wobbly moving up and down,
there is nothing but vanity
weighted by the Supreme.
“Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie.”
