Global Climate Change and Its Impacts

ered street lamps helps reduce electricity consumption. Through these energy-saving renova-
tion measures, communities can not only reduce carbon emissions to achieve climate change
mitigation goals, but also lower residents’ energy expenses and improve quality of life.
Furthermore, communities can organize water resource management initiatives. By
constructing rainwater harvesting systems and installing collection devices on building
roofs and public spaces, collected rainwater can be used for non-potable purposes such as
community greening irrigation and road cleaning. This enhances water utilization efficiency
and strengthens communities’ capacity to address climate change-related water issues like
droughts. Communities can also establish relevant regulations to encourage water conser-
vation among residents and promote the use of water-saving appliances, thereby reinforcing
comprehensive water resource management. Through these integrated action strategies, com-
munities gradually build grassroots defenses for climate change adaptation and mitigation
               while improving overall climate resilience.

II. The Role of Civil Organizations in Climate Education and Public
               Mobilization

Civil organizations play a unique and irreplaceable role in climate education, public
awareness enhancement, and citizen engagement mobilization. Compared with government
agencies, they demonstrate advantages in flexibility, grassroots proximity, and professional
expertise. Through diversified and adaptable activities, they can deeply engage various soci-
etal levels to generate extensive influence.
In terms of climate education, civil society organizations can conduct customized edu-
cational activities for different groups. For youth groups, they organize climate science sum-
mer camps and school lectures. During summer camps, adolescents personally experience
the impacts of climate change through activities like field trips to ecological environments
and conducting climate science experiments, learning climate science knowledge while cul-
tivating environmental awareness and responsibility. In school lectures, climate experts are
invited to explain climate change principles, impacts, and mitigation methods to students,
sparking their interest and attention to climate issues. For adults, various climate-themed
workshops are held, such as energy management workshops, teaching residents how to re-
duce energy consumption in daily life through rational appliance use and optimized home
               layouts to address climate change.
In terms of public mobilization, civil society organizations utilize various channels
such as social media platforms and public service advertisements for awareness campaigns.
Through creating engaging short videos and illustrated science articles, they widely dissemi-
nate climate knowledge and action initiatives for addressing climate change on social media,
attracting substantial public attention. Large-scale public welfare activities like “Car-Free
Day” and “Earth Hour” are organized to encourage the public to adopt eco-friendly actions
during designated periods, such as choosing public transportation or switching off unneces-
