Global Climate Change and Its Impacts

impacts on beaches and cliffs, leading to shoreline retreat and dune disappearance. Saltwater
intrusion into freshwater systems becomes more prevalent, contaminating drinking water
sources and agricultural irrigation supplies. Critical coastal ecosystems like wetlands, man-
groves, and coral reefs face risks of submersion or alteration, weakening their functions as
natural buffers and habitats. Industries such as tourism, fisheries, and port operations are
directly affected by sea-level rise, potentially leading to reduced income and service disrup-
tions. In the long term, the costs of protecting and developing coastal cities will also increase
               substantially.
                   (IV)Response Strategies and Adaptation Measures
In response to the challenges posed by ocean warming and sea-level rise, the interna-
tional community is implementing a series of countermeasures. Reducing anthropogenic
pressures on the climate system through promoting clean energy, improving energy effi-
ciency, and developing a circular economy helps decelerate the pace of ocean warming.
Constructing flood barriers, reinforcing seawalls, and cultivating salt-tolerant vegetation can
effectively mitigate flooding and erosion while safeguarding critical infrastructure and resi-
dent safety. For high-risk areas where engineering solutions prove inadequate, developing ra-
tional retreat plans to facilitate population relocation to safer zones while ensuring livelihood
security becomes crucial. Modern technologies enable the establishment of comprehensive
marine and coastal monitoring networks that provide timely early warnings and guide emer-
gency responses. As climate change constitutes a global challenge, international cooperation
through experience sharing, technological exchange, and collaborative development of adap-
tation strategies can amplify efforts to alleviate the impacts of ocean warming and sea-level
               rise across broader regions.
In summary, ocean warming and sea level rise are not only hot topics in scientific re-
search but also crucial issues concerning human survival and development. By comprehen-
sively utilizing observational data and technological tools, we can better understand and pre-
dict the trends of these changes, providing a solid scientific foundation for protecting coastal
ecosystems and safeguarding human well-being. With deepening global cooperation and the
support of technological advancements, we are confident in addressing the various challeng-
es posed by ocean warming and sea level rise to build a more sustainable future.

Section 3 Analysis of the Causes Behind Increased Ex-
                                        treme Weather Events

In recent years, there has been an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme
weather events such as heatwaves, heavy rainfall, droughts, and hurricanes. We must thor-
oughly analyze the underlying climatic reasons behind these phenomena. By understanding
the driving factors of these occurrences, we can better predict future climate changetrends
               and formulate effective response strategies.
