Chapter 3 Low-carbon and Economical E-commerce
challenges of transformation and the promotion of low-carbon economic e-commerce.
At the same time, the government should also increase its support for the development
of low-carbon economy to create a good policy environment for the transformation of
enterprises.
Section 5 China’s Policies and Measures to Deal with
Carbon Border Regulation Tax (CBAM)
5.1 government policy support
5.1.1 Formulating an environmental policy that meets the CBAM standard
In order to meet the challenges brought by CBAM, the first thing our government
should do is to formulate environmental policies that meet the standards of CBAM.
These policies should cover the measurement, reporting and verification of carbon
emissions to ensure that Chinese enterprises are not at a disadvantage in competition
with foreign enterprises. In addition, the government also needs to strengthen the su-
pervision of corporate carbon emissions, improve the accuracy of carbon emission data,
and provide strong support for enterprises to deal with CBAM.
5.1.2 the government and enterprises to promote low-carbon technology re-
search and development cooperation
The government should work together with enterprises to increase research and
development investment and promote innovation and progress of low-carbon tech-
nologies. Through policy guidance, financial support and other means, enterprises are
encouraged to introduce, digest and absorb international advanced low-carbon tech-
nologies to enhance the competitiveness of Chinese enterprises in the field of carbon
emission reduction. At the same time, strengthen international cooperation, actively
participate in global low-carbon technology exchanges and cooperation, and provide
more technical support for Chinese enterprises.
