旷野诗选
Wilderness Anthology
Repetition
Shortly after the song of triumph ceased,
ill was approaching to the point of death.
The forthcoming fate of demise was told,
turning face in grief to confide faith.
To be blessed with extra fifteen years,
a poultice of figs applied but be recovered.
Weeping could be heard in wonderful promise,
the shadow went back ten steps in sign showed.
Forgetting all suddenly without any prudence,
welcomed envoys of Babylon to inner chamber.
Relying on human’s assistance in wild jauntiness,
king flaunted all treasures of the nation, moreover.
As the day comes, the whole country’d be looted.
Never come back, all the wealth would be robbed.
“The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your fathers have stored up
until this day, will be carried off to Babylon.”
