Counterattack
The king of south rose in power to implement justice,
smashing up all graven idols and windy vanities.
He kept all divine laws and sacred ordinances,
winning in every battle in the favor of Providence.
Making a vigorous start in firmness out of constraint,
Assyria attacked against traitors without hesitation.
In order to seek for tranquility on route of retreat,
stripped off the gold covered in temple as compensation.
The field commander came to mock Hezekiah blatantly,
rebuking the holy name aggressively in vicious sarcasm.
Tearing up robe but only with sackcloth mournfully,
the king of south pleaded prophet to soothe alarm.
King of kings heard eager prayers for amazing grace.
Corpses in bloody sea were littered in camp of foes.
“When the people got up the next morning —— there were all the dead bodies!”
