ABSTRACT
Woodworking Maker Space and the Cultivation of Children’s Innovation
Ability is a monograph that systematically explores the application of woodworking
maker space in the field of preschool education. It was written by Zhao Ping,
the research director of Yecheng Kindergarten in Jiading District, Shanghai. The
whole book takes “Woodworking Maker Space” as the core theme, combined with
the author’s more than ten years of practical experience and scientific research
achievements in preschool education. From theoretical construction to practical
exploration, it comprehensively analyzes how woodworking maker space can
become an effective carrier for cultivating children’s innovation ability, and
provides an operable curriculum design framework and space construction plan for
preschool education workers.
Chapter One: Introduction: Research Background and Significance.
The beginning of this chapter clarifies the research background and practical
significance of the woodworking maker space. With the popularization of the
STEAM education concept and the country’s emphasis on the cultivation of
innovative talents, the cultivation of innovative ability in the early childhood stage
has gradually become an important issue in preschool education. However, the
traditional teaching mode pays too much attention to knowledge indoctrination and
neglects the stimulation of children’s hands-on practice and creative ability. The
woodworking maker space, as an interdisciplinary educational form that integrates
handcrafting, scientific exploration and artistic expression, precisely fills this gap.
By analyzing the current research status at home and abroad, the author points out
that the application of woodworking maker Spaces in kindergartens is still in its
infancy at present, lacking systematic theoretical support and practical guidance. It
is urgent to conduct in-depth research on its educational value and implementation
path.
