Chapter 6 Climate education for the public
development, its role in global climate governance is irreplaceable. In the future, the inter-
national community needs to deepen cooperation in the following aspects to advance the fur-
ther development of green consumption:
【1】Strengthen policy support for green consumption
Establish green consumption regulations and standards: Develop clear laws and reg-
ulations to define “green” products and services, and set strict standards to ensure all en-
vironmentally claimed products in the market truly meet corresponding environmental re-
quirements. This includes, but is not limited to, specific indicators for material usage, energy
consumption during production, and waste emissions. Simultaneously, a transparent infor-
mation disclosure system must be established to allow consumers to easily access authentic
information about products’ environmental performance.
(1)Provide financial incentives
The government could consider implementing fiscal incentives such as tax reductions,
direct subsidies, or other measures to alleviate the cost burden on green product manufactur-
ers and encourage more enterprises to invest in the R&D and production of environmentally
friendly products. For consumers, the government could also provide subsidies or tax rebates
for purchasing green products to stimulate market demand and further expand the market
share of green products.
(2) Strengthen the Guiding Role of Government Procurement
As one of the largest-scale purchasers, the government can prioritize the selection of
green products and services in public procurement to drive the transformation of the entire
market. This approach not only directly supports the development of green industries but
also creates a demonstration effect, guiding other businesses and individuals to follow suit.
(3) Promote International Cooperation and Exchange
In the context of globalization, the efforts of a single country often fail to achieve
desired outcomes. Therefore, nations should strengthen cooperation in green consumption,
jointly establish unified international standards and technical specifications, and avoid trade
barriers caused by regional disparities. Furthermore, they should actively conduct technology
exchanges and knowledge-sharing activities to help developing nations enhance their green
production capabilities.
(4) Encourage Innovation and Technological R&D
Governments need to increase investment in R&D for green technologies and process-
es, establish special funds to support relevant scientific projects, cultivate professionals, and
improve green technology levels both domestically and globally. At the same time, they
should actively promote the transformation of scientific achievements into real productive
forces and accelerate the application and promotion of new technologies.
【2】 Promote Technological Innovation in Green Products
(1) Boost R&D Investment
The government and private sector should increase financial investment in green tech-
