taining carbon footprint data.
Scope 3 data acquisition is more dependent on databases. Foreign countries started
to establish LCA databases earlier. Relevant databases mainly include Swiss Ecoinvent,
European Lifecycle Literature Database ELCD, German GaBi Extended Database,
American NREL-USLCI Database, Korean LCI Database, Japanese LCA Public Data-
base, etc. In Asia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and other countries are leading in the
establishment of LCA database. In addition, relevant units have developed GaBi and
Simapro environmental impact assessment software for LCA assessment. The research
and application of carbon footprint in China need to be based on the local basic data-
base in China. The Chinese Reference Life Cycle Database (CLCD) created by Profes-
sor Wang Hongtao of Sichuan University is the first publicly released local life cycle
basic database in China, and the relevant evaluation software is eFootprint.
A number of domestic scientific research institutions and enterprises have also de-
veloped LCA databases, including the LCA database developed by the Ecological En-
vironment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in China, the building
materials life cycle inventory network database BELES developed by Tsinghua Univer-
sity, the materials industry LCA database SinoCentor developed by Beijing University
of Technology, the China automobile alternative fuel life cycle database developed by
Tongji University, the enterprise product LCA database developed by Baosteel, and
the steel industry database released by Shanghai Easy Carbon Number. Compared with
foreign databases, domestic databases still need to be further improved and developed
based on the actual domestic production and living conditions. For example, Ecoinvent
3.4 contains more than 13,300 unit process data sets and aggregate process data sets of
corresponding products in Europe and various countries in the world, and GaBi 4 Pro-
fessional and Extended Database has a total of more than 4,000 available data. Howev-
er, the domestic CLCD database contains more than 600 large quantities of energy, raw
materials and transportation inventory data, with relatively few data.
Enriching the local basic carbon footprint data is a major focus of domestic carbon
footprint research at this stage. At the same time, it is also of great significance to dis-
tinguish and evaluate the effectiveness of the collected carbon footprint data. Analyzing
the carbon footprint data through data cleaning, data verification, monitoring data com-
parison and other ways can improve the data quality and is the basis for ensuring the
accuracy of carbon footprint research.
Carbon footprint evaluation data are divided into field data and background data.
Taking steel products as an example, there are three data evaluation indicators of data
