IV. Postures of Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)
Posture 44 Zuo Huang Long San Jiao Shui
(Left Dragon Stirs Water Thrice)
1. Relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso right, with the weight shifting
right into a right-weighted side bow-stance. At the same time, the left palm twin-
ing directly and the right one reversely push up and right in a concave curve. The
right palm rests above the right foot, level with the right shoulder, facing right and
forward, with the fingers pointing up and left; and the left one in front of the right
chest, facing right and backward, with the fingers pointing left and forward. The
palms have a forearm-length separation between them. The eyes look right. (Figure

2. Relax the left hip joint, and turn the torso left, with the weight shifting first
left and then right, the right shoulder protruding. At the same time, the right palm
twining directly and the left one reversely pull left and down in a concave curve,
with the right one in front of the abdomen, facing up and left, the fingers pointing
up to the right front, and the left one outside the left hip, facing down, the fingers
pointing right and forward. The eyes look right and forward. (Figure 44-2)
3. With the right leg twining directly and the left one reversely, the feet jump
up. The keens lead energy, with the crotch sinking. The body turns 90 degrees right
in the air. The feet land on the ground at the same time, forming a horse-riding
stance, the torso facing southeast. At the same time, with the shoulder joints pivot-
ing, the right palm twining first reversely and then directly and the left one first di-
rectly and then reversely chop down in a convex curve as the body turns right. The
left palm ends up facing right, the fingers pointing up to the left front, the right el-
