ward in an outer arc on the ball, the heel off the ground. At the same time, with the
heel pivoting, the left foot turns inward in front of the right foot, the weight more
on the right. The left palm twining directly chops down in an outer arc, ending
above the left knee, facing south, the fingers pointing down and forward, the left el-
bow closing in. Remaining in its place, the right fist twining directly rotates in, the
heart of fist facing up. The eyes look left. (Figure 44-18)
Note: Mirror Movements 1 through 5 of Posture 43 when executing Move-
ments 4 through 8 in this posture. Repeat Movements 4 through 8 as you practice
Movements 9 through 13 or Movements 14 through 18.
Posture 45 Zuo Deng Jiao (Kick with Left Heel)
1. Relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso slightly right, with the weight
shifting slightly left into a horse-riding stance, facing south. At the same time, with
the left fist opening into a palm, the palms twining reversely sink their bases and pull
apart, ending above and outside the thighs, facing down, the fingers facing forward
(south), the arms rounded, leaving the armpits empty. The eyes look forward. (Figures

2. The weight shifts onto the right leg. With the heel off the ground, the left
foot twining directly arcs back and right on the inside ball to rest inside the right
one, the left heel corresponding with the right one, the body turning slightly left.
At the same time, the palms twining directly cross at wrist in front of the abdomen
in an inner arc, the left one outside the right, facing right and forward and the right
one facing left and forward. The fingers of both hands point down and forward. The
eyes look left and forward. (Figures 45-2a and 45-2b)
