IV. Postures of Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)

left fist twining directly arcs up and right to the left front of the left eye, with the
heart of fist facing down and right, the eye of fist facing in. The eyes look forward
                 (northwest). (Figure 54)
Note: This posture and Movement 2 in Posture 30 are almost identical, but the
turning angles of the left leg are different, and the torsos face opposite directions.

Posture 55 Yan Shou Gong Chui
                              (Cover Hand, Thrust Punch)

                      1. Relax the left hip joint. At the same time, the left fist twining directly ro-
tates out into a palm, the wrist flexed in, sinking to pause outside the left hip, facing
up, with the fingers pointing right and forward; and the right one twining directly
rotates out, sinking to rest outside the right hip, with the heart of fist facing up, the
eye of fist facing out. The arms are bent, leaving the armpits empty. Baihui (GV20)
is gently pulled up. (Figure 55-1)
                      2. Sink the left hip, and lift the right knee twining slightly reversely. At the
same time, the left palm and the right fist twining reversely arc up and forward to
end up in front of the eyes, with a head-width separation between them, the center
of the left palm facing the face of the right fist. (Figure 55-2)
                      3. Stamp the right foot sharply and flatly inside the left one, parallel with the
left. At the same time, the right fist twining further reversely punches down, left
and forward, with the heart of fist facing down and the eye of fist facing left and
backward; and the left palm twining further reversely sinks to rest over the right
forearm, facing down. At the end of their travel, the two forearms cross in front of
the body, with the weight more on the left leg. (Figure 55-3)
