Illustrated Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)

Note: In Movement 3, the right fist twines first directly to travel up and for-
ward and then directly further to withdraw down and backward. Do not withdraw it
              directly.

Posture 57 Duo Er Gong (Attack Twice with Forearm) [II]

                  1. Relax the hip joints, and shift the weight onto the right leg, the torso turn-
ing slightly left. With the heel off the ground, the left foot twining reversely kicks
backward with the heel. At the same time, the right fist twining reversely goes up
and forward, the heart of fist facing up and forward; and the left one twining re-
versely travels down and backward, the heart of fist facing down and backward.
The eyes look left and back. (Figure 57-1)
Without a pause, relax hip joints, the torso turning right to face east. With the
heel rubbing the ground, the left foot twining directly kicks forward. At the same
time, the left fist twines directly to go up and forward in a concave curve, the heart
of fist facing up; and the right one twines directly to withdraw down and backward
in a concave curve, resting on the left forearm, close to the left elbow, in front of
the left chest, the heart of fist facing up. (Figure 57-2)

                  2. The left foot lands on the ground solidly, with the weight shifting onto the
left leg. With the left hip sinking, the right knee twining reversely rises. At the
same time, the fists twine reversely, with the right one pushing up and forward in
an outer arc, and the left one pushing down and backward in an inner arc. The arms
each form an arc, the heart of the right fist facing up and forward, the right elbow
aligning with the right knee, and the heart of the left fist facing down and forward.
