with the heart of fist facing up to the right front, the right elbow aligning with the
right knee; and the left one twining reversely pushes down to the left front, ending
outside the left hip, the heart of fist facing down to the left front. With the heel piv-
oting, the left foot turns in on the ball. (Figure 30-1)
2. The weight shifts onto the left leg. With the heel pivoting, the left foot
turns approximately 135 degrees in, and lands on the ground solidly, with the toes
pointing southeast. At the same time, with the left hip sinking, the right leg turns
out, the right knee rising. With the right shoulder point pivoting, the right fist twin-
ing directly arcs up, right and down to smash toward the outside of the right hip,
the heart of fist facing up, the eye of fist facing right, the right arm rounded. The
left fist twining directly arcs up and right to the left front of the left eye, with the
heart of fist facing down and right, the eye of fist facing in. The eyes look forward
(southeast). (Figure 30-2)

Posture 31 Yan Shou Gong Chui (Cover Hand, Thrust Punch)
1. Relax the left hip joint. At the same time, the left fist twining directly ro-
tates out into a palm, the wrist flexed in, sinking to pause outside the left hip, facing
up, with the fingers pointing right and forward; and the right one twining directly
rotates out, sinking to rest outside the right hip, with the heart of fist facing up, the
eye of fist facing out. The arms are bent, leaving the armpits empty. Baihui (GV20)
is gently pulled up. (Figures 31-1a and 31-1b)
