ABSTRACT
In today’s rapidly developing world of globalization and informatization,
the importance of English as an important tool for international communication
is becoming increasingly prominent. Medical English is crucial in international
communication and cooperation in the field of medicine. The rapid development
of “new medicine” has promoted the integration of medical engineering, science
and literature, and brought a large number of new terms and concepts. Medical
English is facing challenges such as difficulty in expressing terminology and
rapid knowledge updates. However, current English teaching for English majors
in universities generally faces problems such as insufficient students’ application
abilities and a disconnect between course content and actual needs. Especially in
the context of the construction of “new liberal arts” and “new medicine”, how to
cultivate high-quality composite talents who not only have solid English language
skills, but are also familiar with medical professional knowledge and capable of
international medical exchanges has become an important issue in the reform
of English teaching in universities. Based on this, this book elaborates on the
innovative development of medical students’ English application ability cultivation
from the aspects of medical English proficiency requirements, medical English
curriculum education and teaching, medical English teaching resources, medical
English application ability cultivation, and innovative development of medical
English ability cultivation.
