Among domestic enterprises, the ESG governance methods of Proview in improv-
ing the construction of environmental management system, building green packaging
system, green supply chain, etc. are also a typical approach to build “soft power”. Ac-
cording to “Climate Action and Environmental Performance of Retail E-commerce in
China” published by Greenpeace, an international environmental protection agency,
Proview ranked high in terms of information disclosure and environmental perfor-
mance. Its renewable energy consumption reached 45% of its own in 2020. It is un-
derstood that Proview has completed the construction and put into use of distributed
photovoltaic power stations in two major logistics parks in South and Central China.
According to the latest financial results, in 2022, the PV generation capacity of Proview
will reach 60.55 million kilowatt-hours, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide
emissions by approximately 35,000 tons. In addition, its first ESG report released in
July 2022 shows that Proview will take targeted measures to reduce carbon emissions
by conducting greenhouse gas accounting, identifying emission sources and key areas
of emission reduction. In addition to building a green logistics park, Proview will also
build a reduced, green and recyclable packaging system, continuously optimize pack-
aging design, improve packaging efficiency and promote packaging recycling. In 2021,
Proview will reduce the use of raw paper by 1,920 tons, reduce the use of plastic mate-
rials by 237 tons, save 640,000 cartons, and recycle plastic packaging by 100%.
JD.COM has set an overall target of “reducing carbon emissions by 50% in 2030
compared with 2019”. Based on its own characteristics, JD.COM proposed to “lead a
sustainable future with new entity enterprises”. In the ESG Report of 2021, JD.COM
proposed environmental protection strategies from the fields of green operation,
low-carbon supply chain and sustainable consumption. For example, all the office
buildings built by JD.COM in 2021 have three-star design logo certification for green
buildings; With the help of technologies such as liquid cooling, the new generation of
green data center in jingdong cloud has achieved an annual average power usage effi-
ciency (PUE) of less than 1.1. At the same time, JD.COM promotes the whole value
chain to release low-carbon efficiency through measures such as promoting new energy
vehicles, promoting full-link recycling packaging and building a “zero-carbon” logis-
tics park.
On the whole, only when the enterprise truly achieves sustainable operation and
benefits the environment, industry and society with the development results, can it
continue to take the lead and promote the progress of the industry. For e-commerce
