to end outside the right hip, facing down. The left hukou corresponds with the right
one. The eyes look left and forward. (Figure 38-2)

3. With the weight shifting onto the left leg, the right leg and the left one jump
up in sequence. As the right foot lands on the ground, with the toes turned up and
in, the left one twining reversely slide-steps left and forward (southeast) on the in-
side heel, the weight sinking low and more on the right. At the same time, the left
“grasp” becomes a palm, and twines first reversely, pushing up and out, and then
directly, directing down and right to rest in front of the chest, facing up, the fingers
pointing forward, the left elbow closing in; and the right palm twines first reverse-
ly, pushing down and out, and then directly, arcing up, and finally reversely, arcing
left and down to rest in front of the left shoulder, facing left, the fingers pointing up
and left. The eyes look left and forward. (Figure 38-3)
4. With the knees leading energy, the feet jump up by means of the rebound-
ing force from the ground, the crotch sinking. At the same time, the torso turns
slightly right, with the chest drawn in. The left arm twining slightly directly and the
right one slightly reversely close further in.
Without a pause, the feet lands on the ground simultaneously, a left-weighted,
side bow-stance formed. At the same time, the torso turns slightly left, the right
chest opened. The left palm twining directly, under the right armpit, travels left,
up and backward in an outward arc to the mouth level, facing up, with the fingers
pointing up to the left front, the left elbow aligning with the left knee; and the right
one twining reversely goes right, down and backward in an outward arc to pause
outside the right hip, facing down, with the fingers pointing right and forward. The
eyes look left and forward. (Figure 38-4)
