parallel with the right one. The right fist twining directly punches forward in a con-
vex curve, the heart of fist facing in, the eye of fist facing up, the right elbow align-
ing with the right knee; and the left one twining reversely withdraws in a concave
curve to rest in front of the chest, the heart of fist facing in, the eye of fist facing up.
At the end of their travel, the two fists have a forearm-length separation between
them, with the arms rounded, leaving the armpits empty. The eyes look forward.

Note: In Movements 2 and 3, the right (left) heel stamps on the ground and
the left (right) fist punches at the same time.
Posture 38 Pi Jia Zi (Splitting Frame)
1. Relax the left hip joint, and turn the torso left, with the weight shifting
slightly forward (right). At the same time, the fists open into palms, the left one
twining reversely to withdraw in to rest with hukou touching the chest, the fingers
pointing down, and the right one twining directly to strike right and forward (west
by north), level with the right shoulder, facing the south, hukou facing up, the fin-
gers pointing forward. The energy is released out of the back of the right hand, the
right elbow aligning with the right knee. The eyes look right and forward. (Figure
38-1)
2. The weight shifts onto the left leg. With the heel off the ground, the right
foot twining directly arcs backward and left on the inside ball to rest inside the left
one. At the same time, the body turns right, the torso facing northwest. The left
palm twining directly arcs out, up and left, grasping to the left front of the left eye,
facing left and down; and the right one twining reversely arcs out, down and right,
