1. Fist
Curl in the index finger, middle finger,
ring finger and little finger, with the thumb
over the second phalanges of the index and
middle fingers. A fist contains: ①the heart of
fist, ②the eye of fist, ③the face of fist, ④the
back of fist, and ⑤the curve of fist. ⑤

2. Half-clenched fist
Curl in the distal phalanx of the thumb
and the distal and middle phalanges of the
four fingers, with the heart of fist hollow.
3. Cupped palm ③
Palms in Chen Taijiquan are generally ④
cupped, which means the fingers are held ①
straight and close together, and the thumb and
the little finger both pull in slightly toward
the center of the hand. A palm includes: ①the ②
center of palm, ②the back of palm, ③fingers,
④fingertips, ⑤the base of palm, and ⑥the ⑥
external edge of palm.
