Chapter V Strategies for Climate Change Mitigation

es such as desulfurization, denitrification, and dust removal equipment to reduce pollutant
emissions in industrial processes. Resource recycling enterprises facilitate circular economy
development by recovering and reusing waste materials like scrap metals, plastics, and paper,
thereby reducing resource consumption and waste emissions while promoting low-carbon
                 and circular economic development.
                     (3) The Rise and Optimization of the Service Industry
The rise and optimization of the service industry also hold significant importance for
mitigating climate change. Traditional service sectors, such as commerce and catering,
still involve certain energy consumption andcarbon emissionsduring daily operations. For
instance, large shopping malls and supermarkets require prolonged operation of lighting
equipment and HVAC systems, while catering enterprises consume substantial energy during
cooking processes. The introduction of intelligent management systems can significantly
improve energy efficiency in the service sector. In commercial buildings, smart lighting and
HVAC control systems utilize sensors to monitor real-time human activity and ambient tem-
perature. Lighting systems automatically shut off in unoccupied spaces, while air condition-
ing temperatures adjust dynamically based on environmental conditions to avoid excessive
cooling or heating. This not only reduces energy consumption but also decreases carbon
                 emissions.
With the rapid development of information technology, internet, big data, cloud comput-
ingModern service industries supported by information technology are flourishing. Emerg-
ing service models such as remote work, online education, and e-commerce are profoundly
transforming people’s lifestyles and work patterns while making positive contributions to
mitigating climate change. Remote work eliminates employees’ daily commutes between
home and office, reducing carbon emissions from transportation. Statistics show that wide-
spread adoption of remote work could significantly reduce annual transportation-related
carbon emissions. Online education enables resource sharing through digital platforms, al-
lowing students to avoid traveling to schools and thereby circumventingenergy consumption
from teachers’ and students’ commutes under traditional education models. The growth of
e-commerce reduces construction and operational costs of physical stores, lowering both
energy consumption andcarbon emissionsConsumers shopping online reduces the frequency
of trips to physical stores, while e-commerce enterprises optimize logistics and distribution
systems to improve efficiency and decrease energy consumption in delivery processes. By
promoting service industry upgrades and new business models, increasing the proportion of
service sector in national economy, and reducing economic dependence on energy-intensive
industries, this facilitates low-carbon economic restructuring and provides strong support for
                 climate change mitigation.
