IV. Postures of Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)



                      Without a pause, the right foot stamps on the ground sharply and flatly. At the
                 same time, the left fist twines directly to go up and forward in a concave curve, the
                 heart of fist facing up; and the right one twines first directly to travel up and for-
                 ward in a concave curve, and then directly further to withdraw down and backward
                 in a concave curve, resting on the left forearm, close to the left elbow, in front of
                 the left chest, the heart of fist facing up. The back remains straight, with baihui
                 (GV20) gently pulled up. The eyes look forward (east). (Figure 57-4)
                      3. The right foot twining reversely steps forward (east), with the heel on the
                 ground.
                      Without a pause, the left foot lands on the ground solidly. Relax the left
                 hip joint, and turn the torso slightly left, with the weight shifting right into a
                 right-weighted, side bow-stance. At the same time, the right forearm (ulna) twining
                 reversely strikes right in a concave curve under the left forearm, bent at elbow, the
                 heart of fist facing down, the eye of fist facing in, the right elbow aligning with the
                 right knee. With the left chest being opened, the left fist becomes half clenched,
                 withdrawing left to end in front of the abdomen, hukou facing up. The eyes look
                 right and forward. (Figure 57-5)

                 Posture 58 Lian Zhu Pao (Combination Cannon Punch)

                      1. Relax the right hip joint. Sink the right buttock and turn the left one, with
                 the torso turning right. At the same time, the left half-clenched fist becomes fist,
