IV. Postures of Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)
2. The right foot takes a step forward (east), the heel touching the ground.
With the ball of the right foot landing on the ground solidly, the weight shifts onto
the right leg. The left foot takes a step forward, the heel touching the ground, the
body turning right. The left fist twining reversely punches forward in a convex
curve, level with the left shoulder, the heart of fist facing down, the face of fist fac-
ing forward. The right fist twining reversely punches forward in a convex curve,
parallel with the left one, the heart of fist facing down, the face of fist facing for-
ward. The arms each forms an arc. The eyes look forward (east). (Figure 59-2)
3. With the heel pivoting, the left foot turns in on the ball, the weight shift-
ing onto the left leg. With the heel off the ground, the right foot twining directly
sweeps out and backward on the ball, the torso facing west. With the heel pivot-
ing, the left foot turns further in on the ball, so that the left foot and the right one
straddle a straight line, with the left one in front, a left-weighted, front bow-stance
formed. At the same time, remaining in their places, the fists follow the body to the
right, the left palm elbow above the left knee. The eyes look forward (west). (Figure

Notes: Movements 2 and 3 are presented in description when they are per-
formed slowly. After grasping the skill, the practitioner may take a large step for-
ward quickly, leap forward with the push of the right foot against the ground.
Posture 60 Hui Tou Dang Men Pao (Head-on Cannon Punch)
With the knees leading energy, the feet jump up by means of the rebounding
force from the ground, the crotch sinking down. The fists twining directly withdraw
