IV. Postures of Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)

                      6. Relax the left hip joint, and turn the torso left. At the same time, with the left
foot touching the ground solidly, the crotch moves in a shallow concave curve to shift
the weight left to form a left-weighted, side bow-stance, the left shoulder protruding.
With the heel pivoting, the right foot turns in on the ball. (Figure 5-6)
                      7. Relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso right, with the crotch moving in
a shallow concave curve to shift the weight right, forming a right-weighted, side
bow-stance. At the same time, the left palm twining directly thrusts up and right,
across the body, to end in front of the right chest, with the fingers pointing up and
                 right. (Figure 5-7)

                      8. Turn the torso further right, with the weight shifting slightly left, the left
shoulder protruding. At the same time, with the fingers erecting and wrist sitting,
the left palm twining reversely sinks its base, facing right. (Figure 5-8)
                      9. Relax the left hip joint. Sink the left buttock and turn the right one, with the
torso turning left, the weight shifting further left to form a left-weighted, side bow-
stance. At the same time, the left palm twining reversely arcs slightly up, out and
left, to the left front of the left shoulder, facing left (west), with the fingers pointing
north, and the left elbow aligning with the left knee, the left palm with the left foot.
Following the motion of the left palm, the right hook twining reversely moves (wrist
leading) left, with the back of the right hand corresponding with the base of the left
hand. The eyes look left and forward (northwest). (Figure 5-9)
                      10. Relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso right, with the weight shifting
slightly right, but still more on the left. At the same time, the left palm twining di-
rectly sinks its base to push out, facing left and forward, with the fingers pointing
up to the left front; and the right hook twining directly moves slightly right, with
