Illustrated Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)

es right and forward, facing up, with the fingers pointing in; the left one twining
directly descends, flexed in at wrist, and pushes left and backward, facing up, with
the fingers pointing in. (Figure 4-6)
                  7. Relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso right, with the weight shifting
slightly left. At the same time, the palms twining directly pull apart toward both
sides, facing up, the fingers of the left hand pointing left and forward and the fin-
gers of the right one pointing right and forward. The elbows drop and close in, the
left one aligning with the left knee and the right one with the right knee. The eyes
look right and forward. (Figure 4-7)

                  8. Relax the left hip joint, and sink the left buttock and turn the right one, with
the torso turning left, the weight shifting right into a right-weighted, side bow-stance.
At the same time, the palms twining reversely close in to end below the ears, facing
each other, with the fingers pointing up and back. The right elbow is slightly above
the right shoulder, aligning with the right knee; and the left one slightly below the
left shoulder. The eyes look right and forward. (Figure 4-8)

                  9. Relax the left hip joint, and turn the torso slightly left. At the same time,
with the palms twining slightly reversely to sink their bases, the crotch moves in a
shallow concave curve to shift the weight onto the right leg.
Without a pause, turn the torso further left. At the same time, the palms twin-
ing reversely press down and right, across the body, to end outside the right hip,
facing down to the right front, with the fingers of the left hand pointing right and
forward and the fingers of the right one pointing left and forward, hukou corre-
sponding with each other. With the heel off the ground, the left foot twining direct-
ly arcs backward and right on the inside ball to end inside the right one, the right
hip protruding. The eyes look down to the right front. (Figure 4-9)
