IV. Postures of Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)
forward. (Figure 14-1)
2. Relax the left hip joint, and turn the torso slightly left. At the same time,
the left fist twining reversely arcs down, left; and the right one twining reversely
arcs down, left and up. As the weight shifts onto the left leg, the right foot pushes
against the ground to skip-step left (west).
Without a pause, relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso slightly right. At
the same time, the left fist twining directly arcs up, right and down to rest in front of
the left chest, the heart of fist facing up, the eye of fist facing left; and the right one
twining directly arcs up, left and down to end in front of the left shoulder, the heart
of fist facing out, the eye of fist facing in. The right foot stamps on the ground; and
the left one steps left, the toes turned up. The weight is on the right. The eyes look
left and forward. (Figure 14-2)

3. With the knees leading energy, the feet jump up by means of the rebound-
ing force from the ground, the crotch sinking. At the same time, the left arm twin-
ing slightly directly and the right one slightly reversely close tightly in.
The feet land on the ground. At the same time, the torso turns left into a
left-weighted, side bow-stance. The left fist twining directly punches up to the left
front, at the mouth level, the heart of fist facing in, the eye of fist facing up and left,
the left elbow aligning with the left knee; and the right one reversely punches down
to the right rear, ending outside the right thigh, the heart of fist facing out, the eye
of fist facing up and left. (Figure 14-3)
Note: Movements 1 and 2 are identical. The feet skip-step left to adjust di-
rection. As the feet skip-step, make sure that the height of the weight remains un-
changed. The whole movement should be light and agile.
