Illustrated Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)

                  4. The weight shifts onto the right leg. With the left hip joint relaxed, the left
foot twining directly sweeps out and backward around the ball, the left heel off the
ground, the body turning left; and the right one turns in around the ball, the toes
pointing northeast, the right heel corresponding with the left. At the same time, the
left palm twining reversely and the right one directly sink their bases to withdraw
toward the right abdomen, and then the palms twining directly push right and for-
ward (east) in a convex curve (the wrists leading), facing in and up, hukou facing
up and forward. The palms have a forearm-length separation between them, the
right one to the upper front of the left one. (Figure 23-4)
                  5. The palms twining slightly directly push up to the right front in a convex
curve (the wrists leading). At the same time, the left foot twining reversely slide-
steps half a foot backward and left on the inside heel, the weight sinking, mingmen
(GV4) expanded. The back remains straight, with baihui (GV20) gently pulled up.

                  6. Relax the left hip joint, and turn the torso left, with the weight shifting left.
At the same time, with the heel pivoting, the left foot turns out on the ball, the toes
pointing north; and the left foot touches the ground solidly, a left-weighted, side
bow-stance formed. The palms twine first reversely to sink their bases, and then
directly to pull left and up in a convex curve, the left one grasping up to the left
front of the left shoulder, the fingers pointing down and right, the left elbow align-
ing with the left knee, and the right one in front of the chest, facing up, the fingers
pointing right and forward (northeast), the right elbow drawn in. The eyes look
              right and forward. (Figure 23-6)
                  7. Shift the weight onto the left leg. With the left hip sinking, the right knee
twining reversely rises. At the same time, the palms twining directly pull apart, facing
