Posture 21 Yun Shou (Hou San)
(Wave Hands [the Rear Three])
1. The right foot stamps sharply and flatly inside the left one. With the toes
turned up and in, the left foot twining reversely slide-steps half a foot left and back-
ward on the inside heel. At the same time, the right palm twining reversely pushes
in a convex curve to the right front of the right shoulder, facing out, the fingers
pointing up to the left front, the right arm rounded, the right elbow aligning with
the right knee; and the left palm twining directly chops in a concave curve to end in
front of the abdomen, facing right, the fingers pointing forward, the left elbow pro-
truding, leaving the armpit open. The palms maintain a forearm-length separation
between them. The eyes look left and forward. (Figure 21-1)

2. Relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso slightly right. At the same time,
the left foot turns in, and lands solidly on the ground, the toes pointing south, and
the weight shifting left. With the left shoulder sinking and elbow dropping, the left
palm twining directly thrusts up and right to pause in front of the right chest, facing
up and left, the fingers pointing up and right.
Relax the left hip joint and turn the torso left, with the weight shifting onto the
left leg. At the same time, the right knee rises, and the right foot twining directly
cross-behind-steps left and backward on the outside ball, the crotch rounded. With
