its base sinking, the left palm twining reversely arcs up and left to the left front of
the left shoulder, facing out, the fingers pointing up to the right front, the left arm
rounded. The right one twining directly chops in a concave curve to end in front of
the abdomen, facing up and left, with the fingers pointing forward, the right elbow
protruding, leaving the armpit open. The eyes look left and forward. (Figure 21-2)
                  3. Relax the left hip joint, and turn the torso slightly left. At the same time,
with the right shoulder sinking and elbow dropping, the right palm twining directly
thrusts left and forward to pause in front of the left chest, facing up and right, the
              fingers pointing up and left.
Without a pause, the right foot lands solidly on the ground, the weight shifting
onto the right leg. Relax the right hip joint and turn the torso right. At the same time,
the left knee rises, and the left foot twining reversely slide-steps half a foot left and
forward on the inside heel. With its base sinking, the right palm twining reversely
arcs up and right to the right front of the right shoulder, facing out, the fingers point-
ing up to the left front, the right arm rounded, the right elbow aligning with the right
knee. The left one twining directly chops in a concave curve to end in front of the
abdomen, facing up and right, with the fingers pointing forward, the left elbow pro-
truding, leaving the armpit open. The eyes look left and forward. (Figure 21-3)
Note: This posture is also called “Wave Hands (the Rear Three)”. That is, with
the torso facing south, opposite the direction in which “Preparation” is performed,
the legs take three steps eastward.
