IV. Postures of Chen Taijiquan Routine II (Cannon Fist)

                        Figure 65-1 Figure 65-2a Figure 65-2b

Posture 66 Chuan Xin Zhou (Heart Piercing Elbow)
                      1. Relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso slightly right, with the weight
shifting left. At the same time, the left half-clenched fist opens into a palm, stick-
ing to the outside part of the right forearm. The left palm and the right fist twining
                 slightly directly move right.
Without a pause, the weight shifts onto the left leg. Relax the left hip joint,
and turn the body slightly left, the right knee twining reversely to rise. At the same
time, with the shoulder joints pivoting, the left palm and the right fist, sticking to
each other, twine reversely to arc up and left, pausing at level with the left ear. The
eyes look right and forward. (Figure 66-1)
                      2. Relax the left hip joint, and turn the torso slightly left. At the same time, the
right foot twining reversely slide-steps half a foot right and backward on the inside
heel. With the wrists sticking to each other, the left palm twining directly and the
                 right fist reversely drop down.
Without a pause, relax the right hip joint, and turn the torso slightly right. With
the right foot touching the ground solidly, the weight shifts right into a right-weight-
ed, side bow-stance, and the left foot steps right. At the same time, with the left palm
twining directly and the right fist reversely, the inside parts of the wrists sticking to
each other, the right elbow strikes up and right, not higher than the right shoulder.
At the end of their travel, the heart of the right fist faces down, the right wrist flexed
in, the right elbow aligning with the right knee; and the center of the left palm faces
up, the left wrist flexed out. The eyes look right. (Figures 66-2a and 66-2b)
