torso faces north by east, the weight more on the left. With the right shoulder joint
pivoting, the right first twining first reversely and then directly, smashes right and
down in a convex curve, ending outside the right thigh. The left fist twining direct-
ly closes inward in a convex curve, the left elbow aligning with the left knee. The
hearts of fists correspond with each other. The eyes look right and forward (north-
east). (Figure 9-4)
Note: In Movement 3, the fists pulling left and down and the right shoulder
protruding embody the principle of “the end section directing and neutralizing while
the root section advancing and striking”. In Movement 4, as the feet jump up, baihui
(GV20) is gently pulled up, and the crotch sinks, which demonstrates the “up and
down” symmetry.
Posture 10 Jing Lan Zhi Ru (Cable Goes into Well)
1. First, relax the left hip joint, turn the torso left, and shift the weight right;
and then, relax the right hip joint, turn the torso right, and shift the weight left. At
the same time, the fists twining reversely arc up and in to end on both sides of the
left thigh, the faces of fists facing down, the eyes of fists facing in, leaving the arm-
pits open. The eyes look right and back (southeast). (Figure 10-1)

2. The weight shifts slightly left. With the heel pivoting, the right foot turns
out on the ball, the toes pointing southeast.
Without a pause, the weigh shifts right. With the heel pivoting, the left foot turns
in on the ball into a right-weighted, front bow-stance. At the same time, with the fists
becoming palms, the left one twining first directly and then reversely, arcs up and in
to end under the left ear, facing in, the fingers pointing up and back, the left elbow
