不是出于不稳定感。(security 原意是安全,反译为不确定感与前面的信心形成
反差,使得转折句效果更加强烈,句意更加准确。)
In the absence of anybody more suitable, I took command.
由于找不到更合适的人选,只好由我来指挥。(名词转动词,化抽象为具体,
增强语气。)
(二)动词
Regrettably, the last bullet missed the target.
令人遗憾的是,最后一发子弹没有击中目标。(增强语气)
Although he is regarded as an excellent professor, his speech leaves much to be
desired.
尽管他被评为一名杰出的教授,但是他的讲话很不如人意。(更符合汉语的
表达。leaves 留下,正译留下许多让人渴望的东西,语义不明,表达不顺。反译
效果更佳。)
(三)副词
She slowly pulled the letter out of the envelope, and unfolded it.
她不紧不慢地从信封里拿出那封信,接着又打开了它。(增强语气)
Lose weight safely, and forever.
安全减肥,永不反弹。(增强了准确性,更加符合广告语的表达。forever 永远,
但在这里,要译出广告词的潜台词,不是说永远健康减肥,而是指效果持久。同
时,两个四字格表达,使得广告词简单、上口。)
(四)介词
These planes were held back to protect the enemy’s home island instead of being
used where they were badly needed.
这些飞机被留在后方保护敌人本岛,却未用于其他急需的地方。(增强语气)
It was beyond his ability to solve this problem.
他没能力来解决这个问题。(增强语气,更加符合汉语的表达。)
