（二）动词
The work of others may help us delineate our own work more clearly and may
give us ideas for future work which we would not otherwise be able to obtain.

别人的工作，也许会帮助我们把问题阐述得更清楚，也许能起到抛砖引玉的
作用。（省去了 not，直接用四字成语表达，更符合汉语表达方式。）
The member of his family displeased me in my birthday party.
在我的生日派对上，这家人惹得我很郁闷。（动词转形容词，将句子重心放

在后面更加符合汉语的表达。）
（三）副词
A great number of models believed that it will dishonorably give an impression to
trip on the Victoria Secrete stage.

很多模特认为，在维秘舞台上摔倒是很丢脸的一件事。（相比译为不光彩的，
丢脸的这种表达更加具有严肃的语气。）
From the historical perspective, China has unprecedentedly made a great progress
in its development process.

从历史的角度来看，中国已经取得了其发展史上空前的巨大进步。（更加符
合汉语的表达，更地道。）
（四）形容词
Students were warned that all of the chemicals are untouchable in the lab by the

head teacher.
班主任警告同学们，禁止触摸实验室的任何化学品。（增强命令的语气，更
加符合上下级的语言表达习惯。）
For their friends, it is an unusual day when the couple has been married for twenty

years.
对他们的朋友来说，这是一个异乎寻常的日子，这对夫妇结婚二十周年了。
（相比将 unusual 译为不寻常，异乎寻常增强了一种特殊的、令人重视的语气。）

（五）双重否定
Nothing to be got without pains but poverty．
只有贫穷是可以不劳而获的。（增强语气）
It is impossible for most doctors not to heal the wounded and rescue the dying.
