I will not attend his wedding unless I hear from him.
如果他不通知我，我就不去参加他的婚礼。（unless 翻译为如果不…就…相

比除非，更加符合汉语的表达。）
Before I could get in a word, he had measured me and was giving orders for
morning suits,evening suits,shirts and all sorts of things.
我还没来得及插话，他已经给我量好了尺寸，下令做早装、晚装、衬衫等等。

（增强语气。如果 before 翻译为在…之前，就失去了一种惊讶，意外的语气。）
（六）形容词
Traveling six hundred miles by car with three naughty children is the last thing my
parents want to do.

我父母才不想带着两个调皮鬼，开车六百英里呢。（the last不是指最后一个人，
而是指 the least likely。）
The group of people are worrying about the fluid situation all the time.
这群人一直关注着动荡不安的局势。（增强准确性。fluid 流动的、流畅的，

这里指局势，应该译为动荡的、不安的，更为准确。）
以上例子说明，如果他们要按照正说正译的方式翻译恐怕就会涉及以下的问
题：语言不通顺，语句冗长，语言不明，表达不畅等。

四、反话正说

反话正说主要包含以下几种形式：英语中明显使用 not、no 等否定词或否定
前后缀的反说语句有时却是含有肯定的含义，以及双重否定这种情况下，我们在
译成汉语时，可以用肯定形式来表达。

（一）名词
It was reported that someone had sown discord among the couple.
据报道，有人在这对夫妻中间挑拨离间。（增强语气。discord 不一致，不和。

有人使得这对夫妻不和，没有挑拨离间语气严肃。）
Generally, Miss Liu accepted the family life in all its crowded inadequacy.
在通常情况下，刘小姐还是能忍受她那拥挤寒碜的家庭生活。（增强语气，
更符合汉语的表达。）
